Glitter Bomb
By Shane Robitaille
I am running into the New Year.
Get your azz outta the way
If you’re gonna be a bore,
With small, mundane talk,
News of the day, weather, or
Other trivial BS.
But I’m down if you’re one of
The mad ones, creative ones,
Daring ones, over-the-top ones,
Who will not ever, and will never
Fit in, no matter what the man says.
I say we start planning and scheming
Right away, for a way, way, more
Spectacular tomorrow.
We can start by taking a sledge hammer
And destroying the walls of status quo.
Then we can start building, building, building
Something awesome, something new,
Something shiny, that we can launch into space,
Burning, burning, burning, then exploding
And raining down a bazzilion, gazzilion
Glitter bombs, covering the gray buildings,
The billboards, busy streets, and everything else,
Until this stale, predictable, worn-out place
Starts to shine, and all of us sleep-walkers
Wake up, eyes-wide-open, and we can see
This place for all that it can be…if we try.
What do you say?
Are you down?
Here’s a sledge hammer.
