They can shout venomous words
but we have music in our ears
and can’t hear a thing they say.
They can try to push us down
but we have the power of love
so we will keep rising up.
They can lock us up with lies
but we have truth on our side
and that will always set us free.
They can steal our fortunes
but we have hearts of gold
so we will always be rich.
They can try to hold us back
but we have poetry in our souls
and can fly up into the starry skies.
They can tell us how to think
but we are the dreamers
so they don’t stand a chance.
